Japanese and Swedish (cars) ROTFLMAO... elmat... when I was younger and the first Japanese cars hit the NA markets they were CRAP (really the best description)... Can I infer from this that the Japanese intelligence blossoming is a recent development :O)... but not as recent as the Koreans who have also begun to manufacture fine automobiles :O)

The Black Swan

<<car>> just filled up the mini, and, gad, the cost was USD 7.75 per us gallon (US$ 2.05/ltr)

without a doubt, the future price for the rest of the planet

which means, at my expected doubling of annual driving distance of the 2005 used car, at 100 miles for the year, and at 25 miles / gallon, my fuel cost is expected to be 31 USD ... given that top five equity positions are petrobank energy, vermilion oil/gas, ultrashort financial, shenhua coal, and ultrashort china, I am well hedged against energy inflation ;0/

but, should such a gas price be the rule within the empire, average j6p would be paying us$ 3.9k for gas in post-tax money, or 5k pre-tax, about 10% of median household income, if only one car - not exactly something to look forward to.

since we then must slap on another car, payments, insurance, and no wonder china export of underwear to usa is expected to decline, with no other exporter picking up any difference that will not be there.

exactly how will the car evolve? electric?

how will the suburbs evolve? extinct?

recommendation: buygold, buycoal, buyuranium, buyplatinum, buypalladium, and of course, buyoil, buygas, buyultrashort financials, etc etc, buy oceanview anything as close to CBD as possible

... oops, almost forgot, buy food, since folks will be burning more for fuel

something will break, either this way or that way, but break unpleasantly

yesterday the coconut, at 41 months, and I did our first car wash together, by self (for me since 1984), and she is learning to do labour, take care of possession, and about filling up gas and such, as well as saw her first auto engine
