Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez says digital TV will "improve our quality of life" and "we want every American to be ready."

no kidding...our kids need to be ready to view the trash that is on every channel in hi-def...I mean after all...

But as far as the number of sets? I confess, I am guilty..all I have is analog, but I do have the industry standard of 2.6 sets...Unfortunately, only 1.2 of them works.....

Since Uncle Sam is the one that is *taking back* the analog spectrum that TVs have worked on for decades, (thus *creating* the situation of these analog sets not having anything to receive any longer over the 'public airwaves'), and is auctioning it off to the cell phone companies for tens of Billions of dollars of profits, this 1.5 Billion coupon program is small potatoes, pretty much the least the Feds could do for a situation that is created by government action... and would seem to be entirely consistent with traditional conservative philosophy about government 'taking'.
