With a democratic congress all that needs to be done is pass laws with votes - not judges. Using judges in place of laws is IMO plain wrong. If the party of the left is proud of ideas they can stand up and vote for them in public.

It's always possible that some of the younger men on the supreme court may die early. Justice Thomas's brother died early- 50? I think (heart).

The youth of some of the conservatives makes it look like the court is stable, but you just never know. They do have good health coverage though, so that's a plus for them.

On Iraq, with McCain we get a continuation of the wrong war on terror; not the one against Al Qaeda but the one in Iraq.

I don't see McCain having the resources or the backing to expand that war and I don't see Obama being able to walk away from it.

with McCain we are very likely to get another one or two Roberts

I don't think that's what he would pick--he's just too collaborative and non-ideological--but neither of us is doing any more than speculating.
