Does this put his Michelle Obama's statement about being proud of America for the first time in a different light?

I connected the two at the time that Michelle made that statement so the only thing new for me was Barack's explanation.

Any thoughts?

Not from me. I'm not engaged in this horse race at all. Just watching a bit from the bleachers. It's quite a happening, I recognize, but I just can't warm up to it.

Personally, I think Hillary would be smart to stay far away from this and try to make statesmanlike comments if the press corners her on it.

I do expect though that somehow Fox will build some kind of case that the Clinton campaign steered Fox in the direction of the Reverend or delivered some tapes or in some other way tie the Clintons to this exposing of the Reverend....i.e. push some blame on the Clintons.

This plays right into the democratic left and their anger peels even more voters away.

Way back here I said the Republicans will win with a divide and conquer strategy when they were so very quiet on Barrack and harsh on Hillary. It will happen now. She's already been weakened by her own party.

At least this scenario wouldn't surprise me.

<<<Another question is how does Clinton play this? Does she stay away from this as far as possible? Does she take him at his word right now? Any thoughts?>>>

Nobody is going to get near this thing. Not Hillary. Not even McCain. You have to let this play out by itself. The best that Barack can hope for is to be able to stay in the race and win the nomination.

No way he can win the general election.
