The fed should just shut up regarding interest rates, have Paulson print a bunch of cash, do away with M1,M2,M4,M6,M9.....
I'm thinkin about cashin out my IRA, 401k, take the tax/penalty hit, and then buy a bunch of silver eagles. When will the feds attack our IRA's and 401k's?

re: "The Fed"..... why, why, why?

If the Fed would have merely acted days sooner,
Bear Stearns wouldn't have been "taken under"
@ $2 a share in a private weekend midnight
madness sale behind closed doors.

So why didn't they?

(I already answered that in prior post)

The Fed is a private bank. They have absolutely no
obligation, or reason to bail out banks. So, why
have they put up nearly one-half of their capital
base in buying mortgage paper?

What do they know - and what does Jaime Dimond know,
that the street doesn't?

Yen soaring & the Nikkei tanking. Japanese exporters,
along with Europe's getting crushed. So what's a good
G-7 banker to do?

Interesting times...

The Fed's buying Fannie paper now... too late for
Jimmy "Cheech" Cayne.
