That's because the Fed is fighting inflation by lowering interest rates, you see, and goddamnit, they're going to keep lowering rates until it works ROTFL

I liked Noland's other comment about what he thinks or slashing rates:

"Many are arguing [for] even more aggressive Fed rate slashing. I am reminded of the joke of the entrepreneur that loses money on every sale but is determined to make it up on volume"
