"means that he was willing to go along with his nonsense." Means that he didn't want to fight Wright over this. Anyone who is a uniter between the black and white communities won't attack this head on. It's a belief system that lends itself more to a gradual rapprochement - and that seems to me what Obama is all about. As the old guard dies off, so will the memes- unless of course we try to tar Obama because of associations, and not because of his actual beliefs. Then (I'd guess) you strengthen that meme in the black community.
