Maybe short term (although the ancillary benefits might outweigh any cost disadvantage). Not long term... it's sort of like your argument in favor of the cost of war. but if your arguing that a specific bad thing is happening, pointing out how different bad things are happening or could happen, isn't evidence for your claim. It's a matter of degree. What level of economic pain are you willing to tolerate before you get off your ass?
