Where I live (in CT, where it's not warm year round) we have all sorts of options for kids to get private instruction from former AAA or actual Major league guys. In Stamford, Bobby Valentine opened a place and people I know have personally spoken to him for advice. It's not hard to find kids at these places to team up with who have exceptional talent. Other than that, not sure what options there are.

As for pitching, any parent who pitches standing straight up with a lob should be banned as a coach. As the commissioner of the K/PK league this year I am going to rigidly enforce laying down a towel, putting a knee down, and pitching on a line. Kids at all ages should always practice using a tee. Even the guys in the big leagues still do. It exposes flaws like uppercuts, a bad grip, and a host of others. I took two plant hangers and put them in our playroom ceiling and hung a tarp from them. Just hit off a tee right into the tarp. They say it takes zillions of swings to change your form, so that's the only way to get such reps.
