"Yesterday, Barack Obama formally crossed "the Swiftboat Threshold." The attacks he faced over his personal association with a religious figure are a textbook example of what we now call "swiftboating.""

How can this be called swiftboating? The facts are not controversial - they are available for all to see. These tapes are part of the normal vetting process that should long ago have been in the open.

that is a strange definition of swiftboating. swiftboating is when former associates in the military collectively express severe reservations based upon conduct that was often witnessed. As I recall 90% of those who served directly with kerry were part of the swiftboaters.

rathering is making up an attack theme and finding any bogus source to show it as real.

making up a term and then applying it is the shallow misdirection defense put forth when that all that's can be done. label it as some untoward process and the facts matter not at all.

obama spent 20 years with his pastor and mentor. Is this evaluation somehow incorrect.

Our minds are shaped up by the person with whom we intellectually associate with, that is how we are groomed.
Ideological grooming at least by experience is even more damaging; the sermons of hate from pulpits of mosques have destroyed a whole generation. To listen to nonsense which is ‘inexcusable’ for 20 years for a highly gifted person is not easy. In our part of the world, we suffer greatly because of this indoctrination of the radicals. Those who adopt radical leaderships unquestionably intellectually lean towards them. If I would have sat for 20 years in a company of a radical person, my thought process and analytical abilities would evolve quite differently. I don’t think the Democratic Party would be so charitable to any Islamic prospective leader attending a radical mosque under a radical leader enchanted by the fringe elements of the society,
I dare not compare Mr. Jeremiah Wright with Aiyman Al-Zahwari. Perhaps on grade of non sense both stand on equal pedestal.

Those rare commodities like us who thought of 9/11 very differently from Noam Chomsky and considered Obama’s voting record much as we disagreed with it as an aberration can now relate to the setting he has been brought up in. This rampant liberalism and rainbow coalition will only add more misery to untying knots of a very complicated world. Appeasement has never worked and self flagellation and self censure in face of dangerous terrorists is encouragement to the terror tentacles.

Owning up and responsibility is an act of immense virtue, I think Mr. Obama should own up his sympathetic leanings towards the political divide that Jeremiah Wright adheres too. I own up without remorse my political inclinations although my views are not in currency with my people, but is this not what intellectual integrity a man should display, in my opinion Mr. Obama falls short on that test. The change that he talks about cannot come about through double talk; let him be faithful about his true beliefs like other great liberals and leftists.

The one other thing I cannot come to terms with is the length and continuity of association.
If comments made in 2001 were that inexcusable, what kept Mr. Obama going back to the same pastor. I am sure that Jeremiah Wright ‘inexcusable’ comments were not hidden from most of the parishioners. He must have been made aware of these comments in due course of time; to call them inexcusable now is nothing but political expediency. To visit Wright for 20 years and end up disagreeing with his preaching is nothing short of political expediency.
