The type that are wary of the influence of the military-industrial complex? I think they may be hiding under a rock somewhere. If we have any leaders left that believe in Eisenhower's philosophy, they are laying really low. Too bad for America. I keep wondering why the Republicans didn't run a real moderate... Eisenhower type Republican. I think he would have run away with the nomination, and had a good chance in the general. They must see that Bush clones are going to be a tough sell.

I will only post here once. If you can believe me. It's not meant to pile on or a personal attack. I don't consider myself an extremist, but some might. I by definition can be consider to be a racist, but try not to be. When someone, whomever, treats me with respect, I respect back. Would I want my kids to serve in Iraq, no, but I would send them if that's what they believe was right. Should one's faith or lack of it come into play, YES. It's what this country lacks IMO. Out of fear what others might think. Should I be afraid do defend my own Catholic religion out of fear of God and country, no. Am I a sinner-YES. There is only one who knows if I will be forgiven. It not up to God to help our county its up to people who elect officials. There are those who would have faith in both, and some in one or the other. It one of those DOUBLE edge swords. No philosophy intended.

BTW, I've been posting on the McCain thread and it's an amazing experience. Robert Barry is calling me all sorts of names for daring to criticize our torture policies in America. I said America would be no better than our enemies if we torture and he is telling me I'm unpatriotic and other things. And the rest of the thread is piling on. I am convinced that partiotism is a slightly more respectable version of nationalism, and nationalism is what got Germany, Italy and a whole host of other countries in trouble.
