McCain might take a bit longer to withdraw than Obama or Clinton, but I dont see much difference in the end result.

That's the crux of my concern. I'm afraid McCain would consider it such a matter of "honor" as to drag it out interminably and cause much further damage.

As for the difference between Obama and Clinton, my own present take is that Obama's foreign policy crew are much more willing to rethink it from the bottom up and top down as well as much less ready to pull the military trigger. Clinton seems ready to implement Bill's strategy from the 90s. Not a bad one but one that needs the fresh thoughts that the Obama crew is likely to bring.

You suggested your principle focus is on Iran; mine is on what is done with Afghanistan and Pakistan. As the largest centers of global terrorism right now. And, second, rethinking the Israeli-Palestinian peace initiative stuff.

I believe McCain could be steamrolled into bombing Iran. The so-called military industrial complex is in high clover right now. They won't be pushed back into the background very easily.

McCain's age and mindset leave him vulnerable, unfortunately.
