I think I may well be happier in another nation but giving several of them a try is not an easy thing to do ... it's not like when I used to answer Washingtonian "SWF seeking SWM" ads and had three or four lunch dates a week ... sampling a broad representation of nations is a lifetime endeavor, I just don't have the time.

Not to mention that I hate to fly.

<<< It's no different from suggesting that a friend who is not crazy about his job or his wife might want to seek out happiness elsewhere. >>>

Who are you to judge?

Just because a person complains about his job or wife doesn't necessarily mean he doesn't love his job or wife.

I see it a lot, especially with Russian Jews in America. They hated Russia for what it had become, but at heart they are still Russian.

>>What I'm suggesting is that person B might be happier elsewhere. It's no different from suggesting that a friend who is not crazy about his job or his wife might want to seek out happiness elsewhere. I think one being forced and the other being voluntary and one being rejected and the other seeking happiness are meaningful distinctions.<<

Karen -

I'm sorry, but I'm too stuck on the importance of nuance to let this one slide. You first said that a person who doesn't love this country should leave it. Then you said they should leave it as a matter of conscience. Now you're saying they might be happier elsewhere. I see different meanings in all three statements.

What you're saying now is very different from "love it or leave it", but what you said originally isn't.
