I got home late last night, went to bed, and was woken up by my apartment building being on fire. It was the roof and a couple of apartments on the 7th floor, and my place is o.k. But we were all across the street from 1:45 AM until 5:30. Two points: 1. First floor is much safer. That is part of the reason I live on the first floor. The other two are my heavy gun safe and my heavy home gym. 2. It is nice to have a fire station two blocks away, despite how much I bitch when they run their sirens to help somebody else.
