<<<saddam was in charge of vast area and not in control of vast area where islamic terrorist cults could train and plan attacks on America and Americans. saddam was in charge of Iraq like Russia was once in charge of Afghanistan.>>>

Saddam was a dictator (in charge) of a secular state (the state of being separate from religion). If anything Islamic terrorist cults were his enemy. There is no intelligence that linked the training or planning to attack America to Iraq.

<<<saddam was vile beyond description, that by itself is not a reason to eliminate.>>>

The vast majority of people in this world will agree.

<<<however after 911 the saddam circumstance changed. The bar of destruction of a terrorist act was raised.

Un-hindered access was a legitimate criterion in threat analysis. saddam could not be rehabilitated.>>>

That does not sound like an intelligible statement especially coming from any engineering or analyst type.

Bottom line:

1. We captured and had Saddam executed.
2. We spent $500M.
3. We lost 4000 plus soldiers.
4. Over 25,000 soldiers were severely injured and will have to be cared for the rest of their lives.
5. We are stuck in Iraq.
6. We will need to spend and commit at least an addition one trillion dollars.
7. We are despised by the majority of the people in the advanced nations of the world for our actions in Iraq.
8. There are few people that think we are safer and the interests of this country has been advanced.

But, an argument can be made that since we are in this situation, we can not just abandon our position without careful planning.
