It is the level of spending that matters but how it is financed is a secondary but important matter. The current system encourages barnacles to form on the bottom of the economic ship. Imagine what we could accomplish if the millions of excellent minds now being employed in avoiding taxes could be harnessed to create wealth.

the size of federal gov has nothing to do with fair tax issue.it is the result of political favors or pressures from special interest groups.

What makes you think a change in tax policy will clear up the size of gov.?

you also believe a fair tax would be passed without any special interest groups getting exceptions to the tax.. one you just mentioned was food. how about derivatives of food.

does the packaging industry to transport food , get taxed?
how about preservatives for food, what about chemicals added for color, spices, etc do they get taxed?

our tax system now has numerous exemptions , do you realize companies that purchase industrial oils file federal exemption notices because the use of the product ends up or helped to produce a non taxable item. i expect there will be a stream of corporations with lobby groups all seeking exemptions from a fair tax.

much work has to be done before anyone can sponsor a fair tax system without spending years in understanding the results.

some simple calculation doesn't convince me that what is printed out on a web site, by the sponsors, are true or sound results.
