I didn't want to kill the bird family, but I took my hyperdog slingshot out (It shoots tennis balls) and fired a few at them without even coming close. Each time they flew off and then came back after I went back inside.

Finally, I had to put hardware cloth on the place where they were pecking. Then we left for a week and this morning there was some more pecking in a different place.

I think they like the noise it makes, which is much louder on the paneling than it is on a natural tree where they usually make their nests.

Being a forester,I really like woodpeckers, but I don't want them drilling holes in my house. They are a pain.
