Short of a revolution how do you change the culture in Mexico?

How can the "thousand family" monopoly be broken in Mexico?

I don't know. Go to dinner at a restaurant like the French place Au Pied de Cochon in the Lomas de Chapultepec neighborhood in Mexico City and you'll be able to meet a bunch of these buttholes. In my experience most of them think very highly of themselves and treat the rest of the population like dirt. Nice manners until some Mexican crosses them or doesn't treat them well enough.

Many are third or so generation people from other nations like America or nations in Europe. A lot of the American descendants arrived between 1890 and 1910 under the corrupt dictatorship of Porfirio Diaz.

As an example, the richest man in Mexico, richer than Bill Gates, is Carlos Slim Helú who is a second-generation Maronite Christian from Lebanon. His Dad, Youssef Salim name-changed to Julián Slim, moved to Mexico with money in 1911 at the age of 14 and opened the Estrella del Oriente department store. Through government connections Carlos bought Telmex in 1990 which greatly increased his wealth. That's how things work in Mexico.

Compare this with the life of everyone else.

The Minimum Wage in Mexico is ~$5 per day (53 pesos per day). I understand more than 80% of those in Mexico earn only the Minimum Wage.

According to the IMSS (Mexican Social Security) the average wage in Mexico is $20 per day (209 pesos per day).

Except for subsidized tortillas and sugar etc., food costs the same in Mexico as it does in America. Think about that for a few minutes.

Periodically, Mexico has a very small educated Middle Class (Doctors, professors, business executives) who get swept into near-poverty during periods like they will soon experience. College professors turn to driving cabs to put food on the table. During the last bad period people reported being robbed at gunpoint by apologetic, well-spoken and well-dressed robbers with impeccable manners - apart from the gun and the robbery.

It's like a nation run by the Mafia. How would you change a culture like that?
