You think you begin a war, and then just bail out as soon as the people become dissatisfied with it?

First thing you do is sell a war for exactly what it is... too much life, destroyed families and national treasure at risk. It's the one time that politicians need to be 100% honest.

Next, you follow the Powell Doctrine. You accomplish the mission and get out. No nation building, occupations and fighting popular insurgencies. That's not what the US is about.

Last, if you get caught lying and the population, that has to pay for the war in blood and money, turns against it, you get the hell out.

The US population has never turned against a worthwhile war. In fact they have been too supportive of bad wars.

The people fully supported the war when it began.

They did? I don't think so.
