I understand fully what you are trying to say and i dont argue with the tax equity. But you cant create equity on the backs of the so called rich. You need them to invest and work the long days, not to calculate the work is not worth it. That may create a bit of unfairness, sure but it also explains why 90% of all taxes is paid by the folks the dems label as rich. The tax system is not designed nor should it be used solely as a wealth transfer system. And again single self employed guy making $201K is in the 60+% bracket. And yes CA is 9%. If he stops working or figures out a way to avoid taxes---there is always a way--we all lose.
So am i just for trickle down. No way. I came to Obama because there seemed to be genuinely creative and progressive ways to address taxes besides class warfare. All of a sudden he is john edwards. There are so many dems who think they are not in the rich category. They will get quite the surprise when spending surges and the masses get taxed to death.

PS you were right we should take this argument elsewhere.

But you are assuming that the guy making 200,000+ is not contributing to society with his extra work that he puts in to earn that money. Because that guy is going to shut down. Why work 60 hours a week when you can make as almost the same amount of money by working 40 hours a week?

Also don't forget that as you get above 180,000 a year you start to lose deductions.

Also as you keep deducting state taxes from your income, the AMT starts to hit negating the benefit of deductions.

The guys who should really start paying more taxes are the billionaires with huge amounts of wealth hidden in trusts. But those guys are powerful members of the democrat party and will never pay.

Hypocrisy and big money reigns as always.
