Ann, you need to calm down. Please respect others. You are being accorded the respect by others and I would urge you to reciprocate in kind. I hope it is a typo when you said "Tejerk". It is "tejek".

There are many woman posters on this thread like you and they have been very dignified. I hope you will maintain that image.

Thanks.

Chinu

Michelle Obama to address college's first class

FRESNO (California) - SENIORS at the University of California, Merced couldn't rely on a wealthy and established network of alumni to reel in a famous speaker for this year's commencement address.
That's because the college has yet to graduate a full senior class and only has a handful of alumni.

HOW MERCED'S STUDENTS DID IT
STUDENT organisers acknowledged their effort was a long shot when they began.

Surrounded by orchards and vineyards, UC Merced sits far from the spotlight of its sister campuses in Los Angeles and Berkeley. Many of its students are the first in their families to attend college.

But that didn't keep this year's seniors from landing one of the most sought-after speakers of the season, first lady Michelle Obama.

Since February, the 430-member founding undergraduate class organised a nonstop campaign to draw the first lady to the campus in the heart of California's Central Valley, bombarding her office with letters, emails - even hundreds of Valentine's cards.

It set up a Facebook page to attract attention and help direct students' efforts. By Friday, the Facebook page for 'The 'Dear Michelle' Campaign' had more than 540 members.

The campaign included pleas from students, faculty and local residents. One student even recruited more than a dozen family members to send letters of support, said Semonti Mustaphi, the first lady's deputy press secretary.

'Mrs Obama was touched,' Ms Mustaphi said on Friday, after the first lady announced she would speak at UC Merced's May 16 commencement.

'She's very committed and connected to these young people's drive and wants to recognise the leadership that they've already exhibited.' -- AP

Michelle Obama's toned arms are debated

By Jeannine Stein
March 29, 2009

First Lady Michelle Obama stands tall and regal in her official portrait, a double strand of creamy pearls around her neck, her figure clad in a fitted Michael Kors dress. But there's one aspect of this seemingly benign photograph that's causing something of a commotion, and it lies in that exposed 10-inch-or-so stretch between her shoulder and elbow. The first lady is buff, and she's not afraid to show it.

Her curvy biceps have become something of a lightning rod for remarks from both sexes in a larger discussion of how much female muscle constitutes too much. While some praise Obama as a role model in a world gone obese, others say she's gone too far in displaying the fruit of her workouts. Read one online forum comment: "There is nothing uglier than manly, muscular arms on a woman. Mrs. Obama should be hiding them instead of showing them off."
