Fact is Bush had six years to "win" this war, and he's punting it to the next President because he failed.

I know of no military personnel who believe this. Conveniently, Arkin, an anti-American, fails to quote any who do.

These soldiers understand what the typical American doesn't -- that the war must be fought and won. That a war cannot be started and finished during Bush's term is no surprise; shortly after 9/11 we were all aware that it was a very long-term commitment -- that will extend past Bush's term and probably past McCain's or Obama's.

The American people, collectively, don't understand that you cannot put arbitrary time limits on it. Rather than fighting a country which could be defeated as a unit as in the past, we are fighting lots of individuals, obviously, more difficult to stomp out. But it can be done. You don't just say, "Oh, well, we're beaten." You keep killing them.
