AQ in Iraq is being pushed out of most of the areas its been able to operate in. The Sunnis who were formerly pretty hostile to us have come around to us. Only Sadr's militia is making trouble on the Shiite side. Things are looking good for a change. Seems like we made a big mistake not taking in enough force to stabilize the country in the first place. And the transition to Iraqi rule took too long.

Translation: AQ got heavy handed with the Sunnis which pissed them off. At the same time, we offered to pay them if they would join with us. I don't share the same confidence with a paid ally as you do.
