But you can't crush them. They are not a nation state. They are an ideology. Tejek If you don't comprehend that jihad is more than a mere ideology, you simply do not understand the first thing about this subject. These are not a ragtag group of renegade thugs; they are organized, well-financed, well-trained, well-equipped, and passionate in their beliefs. It is true that America has dealt a huge blow to Al Qaeda since 9/11; but it is also foolish to believe they have been eradicated. When bin Laden formed the Mujahideen Services Bureau, it was to assemble a group professionals -- engineers, physicians, the like -- who were capable of organizing a large scale effort to conduct the jihad. Just as would any 'nation state'. I believe this is part of the problem of the left; you are simply unable to envision that a fanatic religious sect is capable of being a serious threat to America. You believe 9/11 was a stroke of 'good luck' on AQ's part. It wasn't. These organizations are substantial, functioning, and well-managed. Archaic? Of course -- the entire concept behind Islam is to be archaic while killing America and the West. It is the entire point of what they're doing.

At best, you take them out...one leader at a time.....like the Pakistanis and Europeans are doing. FYI, the Europeans are helping us in Afghanistan. Maybe the more important question is why do you think what they did was okay? That is a nasty canard. You know damn well I don't think torturing prisoners to death is okay. You ought to be ashamed of accusing me of that. But its okay for you to accuse me of supporting the terrorists. Once again, the double standard works its magic. Facts: I have never said torturing people to death is okay. You have defended a former terror detainee taking his word that he was innocent regardless of how lame his story.
