I once went to a conference on 'cultural diversity' offered as a requirement of my employer. One of the faculty educating us was a man named Doctor Nichols. His explanations about why black people are like they are and white people, Native Americans, etc. are like they are were very much like those posed by Obama. You can't put ME in a box like that, I thought. I don't think like you describe white people should think. I don't have those prejudices and other characteristics you ascribe to white people, even though they make perfect sense to your prejudices. I venture to say that black people don't fit your box either. At another cultural diversity conference that I attended in a different venue, a Russian Orthodox priest explained everything according to his prejudices. He put people in boxes, just like Doctor Nichols. These people are infected with hubris. They think they know everything about people, but they are wrong.
