The trend is up - a rising moving average, to use the stocks analogy.
The point is 10 year wiggle dips have to be taken with a grain of salt.

We can't think in linear terms when it comes to meteorology & climate - after all that's where we got the "Butterfly Effect" from.

It's possible this warming will lead to another Ice Age - and of course you could then say "Yeah, that global warming was a myth"

A bit like the war mongers saying now "we told you AQ is a problem in Iraq !"

Of course. But it does demonstrate that the notion that there has been no rise in temperatures in the past decade is incorrect.

Also, looking at that chart it's easy to see that the warming trend in 1942 was not nearly as well established as the current one.
