The trend is up We have, indeed, been on an up-trend. Looking at that chart tells you nothing else, I don't think. Climate certainly isn't motivated by the same factors as stocks. If you think you can read any future direction from that chart, please tell me how. Now, we may have other evidence that suggests a continued upward trend. I was merely disputing then contention that there were a thousand words worth in that chart. I would claim the seven words of my first sentence plus: "There was a downward trend and reversal early in the last century." Together, way short of a thousand words. <g>
