I don't think you can have a hyperinflation without printing money. And the Fed is doing everything to avoid that. All these new fangled liquidity schemes for the banks and TEMPORARY injections etc. I guess it depends what you mean by hyperinflation but I would think at least 100% p.a. is needed to qualify. Even that is debatable. That just isn't going to happen. Even if inflation was heading above 5% I think the Fed would act without regard to unemployment consequences etc. BTW Those shadow stats don't make basic economic sense. If inflation was as high as they say then GDP would have had to be declining in recent years. That can't be given the low and falling levels of unemployment till recently.
