What is powerful to me is that teenage women are being married off to 40 and 50 year old men..............now that is powerfully sick and demented. I can't imagine any young teenager being enamored by some old man and being forced into having sexual relations with that man. I also saw a TV show that reported how the marital sexual consecration was performed in front of others in their chapel. That has to be horrifying for any young girl. That sect is peacefully deranged. All those men belong in jail for statutory rape and their parents should be charged with child abuse. That is my opinion and I am proud to state it.

Chinu, I'm following the FLDS thing closely. There are so many issues there and I'm conflicted. At first I was horrified on this invasion and sweeping away these children....and I still am on one level. But after seeing the recent interviews with several of the mothers at the compound I feel sick at their robotic, timid behavior and childlike voices. I've known polygamists thru the years but they were small groups, educated, seeming 'normal' who for one reason or another were choosing to live this way. This is the first time I've seen the 'inside' of one of these infamous compounds and I'm now inclined to think maybe they should be busted up. But I'm not sure how this can be done, so......... We all know you can't really legislate lifestyles and I'm rather inclined to believe in live and let live, but I just hated seeing these 'stepford wife' type woman. Over the doorway to the Salt Lake City Temple is the inscription in stone "The glory of God is intelligence", and we all aspire to achieve that. But these woman, to me, look dull and brainwashed...really sad. I've had 4 phone calls from church friends about this today. It's truly upsetting because we do feel a kind of connection to these people. I'm rambling....hope it makes sense. But of course protecting and preventing the 'marriage' of these underage children is required. I actually thought this had ended many years ago.....maybe not. The mainstream LDS church I belong to has has always looked the other way with these groups...maybe this has been unwise. Anyway, thank you for kindly asking.:)
