Both sides have total disregard for it

Not really. One side spends and cuts taxes. The other spends and raises taxes.

I don't know why you say that. In 25 years of Republican deficit spending, we've only had one Dem POTUS,and he was a deficit hawk and eventually squeaked out a surplus.

Then Bush comes along and takes it all back with his irresponsible tax cuts and expensive war.

Both the Dem candidates now are pledging pay as you go strategies.

McCain, so far, has said little as to how to pay for staying in Iraq except to cut some Medicare drug payments to couples with income over $160,000. A drop in the ocean.

McCain thinks he can 'cut' the budget to dig us out of debt. But only 18% of the budget is discretionary. Did you know that? We can't cut our way out of debt. Deep cuts in entitlements and military are required....or new taxes....or a combination of the two.

Speaking of cuts....the Rs for 3 or 4 years have been reducing each year the amounts of reimbursements to doctors. Last Friday, I had my annual physical and my doc said he's no longer accepting new patients and will only keep some of his current patients as they turn 65.
