Do you think that his program will be less ruinous than the Democrats'?

You have to look at not just what they want to do but what they can actually do. Whoever wins the presidency, congress will be in Dem control. McCain can promise anything he wants but, if a Dem congress doesn't let him do it, it doesn't get a chance to ruin anything. Ego his program, however potentially ruinous it may be, will be less ruinous. Unenacted tax cuts are just so much hot air. As for the war, congress can cut off the funding or pass tax increases to cover the cost although the latter might be hard depending on the size of their majority in the house. But we must remember that the president is not all powerful and also to mistake goals or promises for deeds.

KyrosL,

It is spending that will sink us. I hold no brief for John McCain. Your comments on McCain could be matched with the spending promises of Barack.
