I don't believe the state intends for this to be permanent at all. The women, however, will probably be required to give up any semblance of FLDS lifestyle and prove that they can provide a healthy environment for the children before regaining custody.

I still maintain that there is a difference between polygamy and the forced marrying of minors. By defending family and maternal rights, you aren't defending polygamy in any way, JDN. And you're absolutely right about the trauma to these kids.
The state has been nothing if not heavyhanded in their actions here. The situation has gone on for years-- why it had to be corrected in a day, and in such a drastic way, who knows.
That does NOT mean I don't place the blame mostly on the sect itself, only that I think we have a correct action being used to accomplish a whole lot more than JUST protecting teen girls.

I see we came to the same conclusion. Hopefully all compassion will not be lost in the bureaucracy.

When you look at a current news article of where we are today with the situation, and then look at Wiki for more the history and many links, it becomes more and more of a nightmare to sort out....

Take a good look at the FLDS requirements toward the end of the piece.... Are we as a country negligent not to have questioned this before and done something about it, or are we meddling and decide that it's ok to rape and possibly kill the young and their mothers if they don't like what's being done...
(see what happens to those who don't obey "their laws"....)
