I am not that much interested to do that research. But I do follow the local newspaper accounts, since I live only 45 miles from El Paso its a pretty active item locally. I just read this morning they are now gonna seperate the mothers from the young children as soon as they do the DNA testing. Now, is that traumatic or not? What right does THE STATE have to break up families. The mothers and the children SURELY didnt RAPE anyone. This is a prime example of how much POWER we have allowed the state to take in our lives. Pretty soon they will be telling people who can marry who (such as IQ matchup etc.) all for the good of the state?? Nope, I'm sorry, no matter how bad polygamy is I cant see it being worse then what the state is now doing and further I say the state is attacking THE VICTIMS not the PERPS. jdn

This is all so very convenient. The most powerful men of the community declare they've heard from God and throw women's and children's lives around like pieces on a chess board. Not to mention a fair amount of control over who procreates and who doesn't. How is this different from what happens in any Islamic village? And how is this different than every other society that has exploited women and children since the very beginning of time? As far as I'm concerned, we need a serious discussion here. This nation must address the issue of female and adolescent enslavement. And this nation needs to confront, and demand an explanation from every single male that practices polygamy. I don't, and never have known any young women that hopes and dreams of marrying an ugly old man under any circumstances. Any child, including 13, 14, 15, 16, and 17 yr old girls who are required to marry and bear children of these animals should be removed forever from their presence, and these men should be thrown in jail. The church currently practices the law of placing, whereby a young woman of marriageable age is assigned a husband by revelation from God to the leader of the church, who is regarded as a prophet.[40] The prophet elects to take and give wives to and from men according to their worthiness. Wives may be taken from one man and reassigned to men that are more worthy.
