But I tend to remember the most lucrative blocks being reserved for Petrobras and only a few of the less promising blocks being auctioned off years ago. I also remember Brazil trying to develop its own drilling industry in a bid to create domestic jobs, so in part, I am not sure how much US firms are ignoring Brazil when in essence they are offered "scraps" per se. The large finds are a recent phenomenon and it is kind of hard to turn rigs on a dime and have them in Brazil with contracts stretched out for years. That Barbosa comment appears to be self-serving by a Brazilian getting caught not fully prepared to extract oil soon enough. Just my take. Best regards,
