There is no doubt that people in academia and the extreme liberal left support Obama. It is a natural constituency. At the same time, these people are in denial that Obama can connect with the rest of America. Obama looks black, he married black, and he works with the black community. Blacks are overwhelmng in his camp as they should be. But, how is Obama ever going to connect with and gain the trust of the rest of America in less than one years time. Obama's mother was an anthropoligist in Indonesia. He grew up and attended school in Indonesia with a muslim step father. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that and perhaps that does help him to prepare to be a better POTUS. But get real. How is that going to sell on Main Street. On top of that, Barack went to high school in an elite private hs in Hawaii. He then went on to columbia University and finished with a law degree from Harvard. His experience after school has completely been in the Chicago's south side. What does he know about the US outside of what he has read about it? Or, more importantly, what does America outside of the black, academic, and extreme liberal communities know about Barack? You think it only takes a year to get to know each other? How long did it take Oprah to get her ratings to where they are now? She didn't do it in a year's time, that is for sure.
