this debate reminds me of philosophy 101 back in college. How many angels can you fit on the tip of a pin? National Socialism was a corruption of both with the twisted cross (did we all forget that) doing the same to christianity. Add the cowering capitalists and old military institutions and you get total corruption of everything civilized man holds dear.
There are good nationaists, good socialists, good christians, and good military men out there. There are no nazis out there who should be allowed to live.

In 1939 they decided to extend full no charge lifetime health insurance to retirees. One of many Hitler laws still in power today.

I agree with you that Hitler wasn't a socialist. Many other Nazi's where, but in the end he made the decisions.

But they where not close to 180 degrees from socialism.

Both the fascists (the group the nazis are a subset of) and historical socialist regimes, wanted state domination of the means of production. The socialist wanted direct ownership, and a greater degree of planning, while the fascist where willing to keep private ownership and the profit motive, but in both cases it was harnessed to the interests and initiatives of the leaders.

180 degrees from socialism would be anarcho-capitalism.
