I posted an article earlier on how US and Iran interests were in sync with both parties supporting SCIRI and Maliki. I have been waiting for iran and the US to recognized common interests in the area and make some sort of deal since 1980. I am a very patient guy. It would be a real stretch for bush to do it, but it would shock me in the least for any of three to play. Deal in iraq, 10 year truce between Israel and Palestine. Would be nice.

And it is pretty big. Both because it is happening and because Gates is talking about it in public.

The Bush admin has been at odds with the CIA, FBI and the services. The recent firing of the Centcom leader for not towing the Iraq line was just the most recent. They may be losing control of at least some of the Joint Chiefs, which is incredible when you think about it for the "Commander in Chief".

And to talk about it publicly... very weird. Imagine what's being said behind closed doors. Good thing we have an election coming up. If there was a terrorist attack, and they decided to postpone the election... a military coup? Just thinking out loud. That could NEVER happen in this country. The military ALWAYS bows to their civilian leadership.

But enough of this paranoia................
