The more things change the more they remain the same. Just as we can see population and trends changing within our own families and culture we can watch a world in flux. Once nice neighborhoods become spoiled and crime ridden while others are cleaned up and new ones created. This has been the case since the dawn of civilization. In recent history cultures have clashed and blended and that trend is not going to reverse so we've got to learn to get along or engage in a mutual race to destruction. The fact is, the old days weren't really as good as we like to recollect them. Our fore fathers did what we do, they protected their children (us) as long as possible from the ugly realities of the daily struggle, with 'stories' of the good ole days and we love that sheltered view of bonanza land. We can whine about thunder and lightening on the horizon but that isn't going to stop the wind from blowing. When rains fall, the landscape changes; it grows anew and we can't choose whether or not to be a part of it. We do choose, however, whether or not our contribution is beneficial or destructive. The superiority of a human being who has a decent character, who is kind, charitable, compassionate, honest and just, ought to count in our deliberations over worldly affairs but sadly that gets pushed down on our list of priorities more often than not. Perhaps in demonizing all other creeds, religions, sexes, colors, and ethnicities, you can convince yourselves that you are the righteous and good which remains.
