FLA is more important to me, much more, than MI because I think dems could take the state this year. How do you see revoting or not in the Fla. primary affecting the voting in November?

FLA dems did NOT want it changed and tried to block it. The Florida House passed the bill that moved the election date by a vote of 118-0 while the Senate vote was 37-2. There were other election reforms in that bill as well, but if the Democrats were trying to stop the date change, you would think they would have managed to get more than 2 dissenters. Slacker

Don't you think then it becomes rather silly to hold FLA dems to the party rules?<< Kate - I was not aware of that. Yes, of course it makes a big difference. I'm still not sure about what the solution should be. A re-vote appears to be the best option, but there are so many problems getting it done. The whole primary process is just broken. Remember how crazy the schedule looked from the vantage point of last December? Well, it feels completely crazy now. I hope we can do something about fixing this whole ridiculous system before 2012. - Allen

I'm sure some of the Democratic legislators in Florida voted against the law change. However, here is a passage from a news story dated June 12, 2007, after the law was passed. (Yes, I know, it is from FoxNews.com, and therefore may not have much credibility here.) "It would seem that the law to move up the primary, passed by the Republican-led Legislature and signed by Republican Gov. Charlie Crist, is aimed at benefiting Republicans. But the majority of Florida Democratic legislators supported the earlier date as well and Democrats in the state say with popular GOP Gov. Jeb Bush gone and his president-brother's approval rating wallowing at record lows, opportunity is on the horizon. "I didn't feel this good six months ago," said Mark Bubriski, spokesman for the Florida Democratic Party, who pointed out the organization was out of debt, is fielding an army of organizers and finally has a statewide voter file to target supporters. Democrats may also have the state's political mood on their side. The party picked up two Republican U.S. congressional seats and seven state House seats in the 2006 midterm elections.
