To say you believe otherwise will cause you to be scorned by your academic peers. But, So what. You can argue that that their behavior is wrong. And you can argue that our universities should be more accepting of diverse view points and opinions (and I would agree with those arguments). However none of this bad behavior by academics means that Intelligent Design is any more true than Heaven or Hell are real places.

Stein's point, made quite effectively I thought, is that if one diverges from the academic playbook, he or she will suffer with loss of grants, denial of tenure and possibly loss of a career. This equates to a loss of freedom of speech and inquiry in a country that is founded on individual freedom.

The theory of Darwinian Evolution does not come close to providing a plausible scenario how life came about in the first place (as opposed to how it evolved once it existed on earth). But, Darwinian Evolution theory is the catechism of the scientific establishment and woe unto anyone who dares to question it or to suggest alternatives.

By the way, have you seen the movie?

I see Smithee just put it ever so much more concisely than I could so be sure to read his post. Stein was there to tell us that we are being automatically shut off from any DISCUSSION of the matter, or even listening to any discussion of the various theories far as Intelligent Design is concerned.

And that is a very dangerous situation, IMO.

Al Gore and friends are trying to do the exact same thing as far as Global Warming and "carbon credits" is concerned.

Hitler and Stalin both were successful in doing shutting down discussion, and even knowledge of various things. We all now see the effects of such totalitarianism.

How will you ever know if there is no other discussion allowed?
