Holbrooke - very bright, determined guy whose main fault is that he will never believe he is wrong even when he clearly is. Can't say I "know" him but he was Assistant Secretary for Europe when I was in Zagreb and then in Washington for a few months in the summer of 1995. I dealt with him directly once or twice and saw his impact up and down the food chain from the EUR front office to our embassy in Zagreb. If Hillary is elected there is a strong chance he would become SecState.
