"No country dictates our foreign policy in the Middle East."

Ok, dictates is a little strong. But Israel definitely strongly influences our ME policy to varying degrees depending on the administration. Remember that we gave them a bye on their attack on the "Liberty".

No country dictates our foreign policy in the Middle East. We do it on the basis of national interest. Sometimes we are right and sometimes we are wrong.

Excuse me.....Israel wanted to bomb the hell out of Lebanon. Any rational person knew that was crazy. A supposed 'peace loving' nation like the US should have objected......instead we enabled their attack. Why? Because Israel thought it was a good idea.
