The lights in the US have already gone out during periods of hot weather. It is not far fetched. It is something that has already happened. And yes - leftist Europe - France uses nukes for ~80% of their electricity. How in the world did that happen.

Every person I ever knew who routinely used marijuana moved on to more serious drugs.

That has to be a distorted sampling. I've never known anyone got caught up in serious drugs.
