<< I remember when we had Brian Mitchell years ago teams simply did not want to kick to him. We won a lot of games when we had a dangerous returner.>.Brian was AMAZING. Both for us and Redskins.
He wasn't a real full blast burner but had incredible field vision and ability to read blocks and lanes.
One of the best ever kick returners.
Regards Devin Hester.
Sean Jackson didn't return Kick Off in college, so need see.
But he averaged 18.5 yards per punt return.
More, regards Devin Hester, after watching Devin Hester for his first two years i already annoint him the greatest punt returner/kick-off returner in the history of the NFL.
i'd be amazed if Desean Jackson could equal Hester, but that is not a knok on Jackson--Devin Hester is simply the best.
It has become apparent to let a kick/punt get in Hesters hands is a Big Mistake!
Imagine he has set the ALL-TIME longest kick return TWICE already!!!

It is possible Quintin Demps will return kick-offs and Desean punts.
Regards Desean being held up at the line of scrimmage, i hold the view this is NOT a question of size.
If Desean can explode on his first step at the moment of the center moving the ball on the hike any CB that tries to jam him will be BURNED severely for as he starts for the jam Jackson is already gone.
Let's put it this way, if he can come off the line like Allen Iverson, NO ONE jams him.
Allen Iverson is as great example that to be super quick, with that great first step, can not be stopped.

i also think the art of the driving the lane by the little guy goes right back to football.

It is no accident Iverson looks like a running back dribbling, he was All-First-Team Virginia twice in High School, as a Halfback.

The other key with Desean will be does he have the gift of durability from having serious injury and the toughness to play through pain.

All those knocks, btw, on Plaxido Burress about "dogging it" were annihilated last year.

He could not work out during the week, and played each game in significant pain.

Cutting Buchhalter will be painful for Reid, as Reid watched this kid rehab from to MAJOR injuries and play the last two years without an injury.
He never does anything to beat you but i don't think he ever was what he was before his two serious football injuries.

If we keep Lito, and the young linebackers step up another notch i think Eagles will have one very tough defense that will cause turnovers.

Some guys never get the hang of blocking(no matter how they try), i hope Tony H. is NOT one of those guys.
and yada yada:) Max

Mike, i read in on Philly.com a revealing article on Lito's contract and Samuel's contract.
On reading it i do not think Lito has an argument.
Lito when he AGREED to and signed his contract extension got an 8.7 million dollar signing bonus.
His contract is good for 30 million dollars if completed.
Now here is the KEY point.
Lito in signing his contract extension and immediately getting 8.7 million dollars did so RATHER than risk NOT signing and having a career destroying to career damaging injury.
He weighed the risk/reward and chose "Play it Safe" sign.
OTH, Asante Samuel was offered an extended contract from Patriots last year and REFUSED to sign.
If he had had a serious knee injury during last season---Bad Luck, sonny, bye, bye. You see Asante, you got NO contract.
But Asante saw the Risk and , said, i will take on the risk.
This is what it is ALL about.
Lito now wants to be paid what he would have been paid if he had taken Asante's risk!!!!
i support the Eagles Management on this.Max
