>>This won't cause the tank to explode - no oxygen

Do you mean "no oxygen"---in yer brainpan?<G>

Plus, yer gonna hang out for half an hour waiting for the thing to drain and/or the owner to come out with his four-ten 'all loaded with lead'?

No thanks, you go first!

I recognized that instantly as a Mercedes 240D oil pan. Many is the time I climbed under my old 240D for that task.

Speaking of Mercedes Diesels, my favorite leading economic indicator - the E300 on eBay - is showing that those beautiful 1999 E300s aren't moving.

I am really beginning to appreciate deflationary mentalities. The longer I wait, the better the price I will get.

I still take a look at the 240Ds with manual transmissions. They come along every now and then on eBay. Thing is yo will pay around $5K for a good one. You can get a solid 1995 E300 for $6K, so it doesn't make sense. I really miss my old 240D.
