Obviously in hindsight, that would have been the smarter choice for Obama, though he would have paid a social and political price in other quarters, no doubt.

Still might. We have yet to see the latest round. There were a lot of people applauding Wright who may not be happy with the latest installment.

I found the following comment from a NY Times reader interesting. Because it echos a persistent theme in how Obama tries to defect this kind of criticism.

Could someone get this “anybody who knows me” to tell us all one need to know about Mr. Obama in a non-piecemeal and spinned fashion.
