You could say that Obama put Wright in the line of fire by running for election. After all, the minute you step up, everyone in your family, and everyone you've known- even everyone you are merely acquainted with- are suddenly fair game. So really, I think we can say Obama brought this on Wright. I find it hard to blame the man for not being ready for the prime time spotlight. He did fine in his own community- and was apparently going to go gentle in to that goodnight- until the media decided to descend upon him and make him Obama's cause celebre.

Dunno. It just doesn't seem fair. Not that politics is fair. It stinks a lot- but this stinks more than most things do, and it's going to reinforce the idea, in the black community, that the black man is a punching bag for the white man. Unfortunate- but rather than putting some of the racial hatred to bed, attacking this old man is going to play really badly in the black community- which is (presumably) the opposite of what most people want- or at least profess to want.
