Earlier you talked about the South as a region. Then you listed a handful of university towns as evidence of the wisdom of liberal policies. Of course, one can find plenty of university cities in the south that have similar islands of prosperity around them. Research Triangle a nice example. In fact you chose Austin TX as one of your examples of liberalism. Yes, there are plenty of liberals in Austin, nevertheless, its a small liberal ghetto in a more conservative state.
