No one would compete with FDR on the economic front in terms of having a truly atrocious economic policy.

FDR did a lot more things than Nixon about the economy (many of them very negative things), but he also did the things you blame Nixon for doing.

Price controls, check (although he was trying to keep prices UP not down)

Wage controls, check

Dropping the gold standard, well not formally, but he revalued the dollar to gold ratio on a whim, not much of a standard if you change it around any time you want.
