JF, > Our enemies control the lifeblood of our economy and could bring us down in two months.

Why would they want to if they're getting rich off of us?

The US is the safest it's been (from attack) since I was very young.

That you can say this, 7 years after 9/11, is nothing short of amazing and I would like to know whom you credit with it. I know damned well you would never give Bush his due.

The truth is we continue to be highly exposed and subject to an attack that could kill millions. But Bush has done a fantastic job of protecting our homeland since 9/11, taking the fight to the terrorists.

However we are more economically vulnerable than we have ever been. Our enemies control the lifeblood of our economy and could bring us down in two months.

I don't totally disagree that we are economically vulnerable. However, our enemies are not in a position to bring us down in two months without also bringing themselves down. While AQ and other terrorist are willing to commit suicide to bring us down, there are no entire countries who are willing to do so. Not yet, anyway.

"Our enemies control the lifeblood of our economy and could bring us down in two months."

They would have to be totally self destructive to do this. Al queada and iran might fit the bill but they dont have the clout, but not china, saudi etc who do.

As far as you feeling physically safe in the US today from terrorism, i think you are way overoptimistic. There is where the enemies of the US fighting their assymetric war have an advantage. If they take 100 shots, one will get thru. Maybe on 9/11 it was 1 in 25 so safer yes but not as safe as before they existed. Give bush some credit here as well for improving the odds somewhat.
